BIRTH OF THE COMMUNITY VISION COUNCIL

Growth can destroy a town if it is uncontrolled. In 2003, David J. Brown, a local visionary and developer, began a dialogue with Mike Heraty, Managing Broker of The Pagosa Source. In an effort to preserve the values that made the community special, they gathered together a unique coalition of the private and public sector. Their objective was to define a community vision to preserve and enhance the assets of Pagosa Springs. The coalition became the Community Vision Council. |

ENHANCING NATURAL BEAUTY
The community's opinion was solicited through surveys. The services of Hart Howerton, L Studio and the Marshall Strategy Group were enlisted to interpret the survey results and develop a downtown conceptual plan. The plan was gifted over to The Town of Pagosa Springs in January 2005. After an extensive public hearing and approval process, most of the original conceptual plan has been adopted.
Projects are underway to enhance the river corridor and expand parks and public walkways. This has created an environment attractive to high-end developments. The community is optimistic that future growth will enhance the natural beauty and add to what Pagosa Springs has to offer. |
